Dwingeloo and surroundings

Dwingeloo is a warm and cozy village with one of the nicest and most beautiful squares in Drenthe. The leafy green area is the center of the village where you can enjoy some beautiful farms and other old and restored buildings. Characteristic of Dwingeloo is Siepel, that unique and beautiful onion tower of the Dutch Reformed Church, which you can see from distance. Dwingeloo is the village where you find the Planetron, unique theater room of the sky with a projector of more than 350 m2 -is worth a visit.

The surrounding of Dwingeloo has to be explored. In a beautiful landscape you will find beautiful walking, cycling and horse riding opportunities. You can enjoy the scenery of the Dwingelderveld, the area of National Park, characterized by forests, moors and fens. It is Europe's largest wet heath area with many rare plants and animals. Dwingelderveld is freely accessible to disabled and also have good passable routes.

In Dwingeloo you can rent bikes, horses and even wagons to make great getaways. During a trip over the moors you can see the world famous radio telescope in Dwingeloo.

Diever area

"Aan de Vaart" is laying in the beautiful nature of Drenthe. The National Parks, Drents-Friese Wold and Dwingelderveld as rear and front garden, with the villages Diever and Dwingeloo as neighbors and the many attractions in the area are worth a visit.

The house is situated on the edge of the National Park; 6100 ha. uninterrupted nature with forests, heaths, fens and sand drifts. A beautiful area not (yet) discovered by "the masses", with a rich flora and fauna. Also in National Park Dwingelderveld you can enjoy the park by bike or a pair of sturdy shoes. A stone's throw away are the beautiful villages Diever and Dwingeloo, Drenthe's authentic villages with a pleasant green square, and in summer plenty of entertainment. On the route you encounter several nice museums, galleries and shops.

There are several attractions/sights in the area such as the Northern Zoo in Emmen, Play Town Orange in Beilen, Museum village Orvelte and the rich and natural wetland Giethoorn. In short the ideal location in (South West) Drenthe to discover the area from the house walking or cycling in nature. By car you can explore the area and who aspires quieter pac can hire a horse (and buggy) in one of the several livery in the area.

Dieverbrug has one of the most popular piers in the area. Both between the slide gate and the bridge, near the former Veerkade, and just north of the bridge there are several piers. The sailing season therefore draws a pleasant crowd. To find a berth, it is wise to arrive early. From Dieverbrug you can walk on the route knapsack. From the pier Dieverbrug is the knapsack route Lhee-Lheebroek easily accessible by public transportation. The bus departs from Dieverbrug. From the old village Lhee with its beautiful farms and meadows along the edge of the South Lheederesch to the drifting sands of the former Lheederzand. You come to the edge of the Dwingelderveld with its unforgettable views.
